Welcome to the new Charities Internal Audit Network website! 2019 has been an exciting year for CIAN as we celebrated our 25th birthday and marked the launch of our new website.
Keen eyes will also spot that CIAN has a new look in the form of our revamped logo. Our rebrand reflects an evolution of CIAN, but we remain firmly committed to developing excellence in Internal Audit in the charity sector and providing the opportunity to share skills and experience through networking, workshops and training.
I am immensely proud of the work CIAN does to support and develop Internal Audit in the third sector. It is my strong belief that Internal Audit is vital to good charity governance and I sincerely hope that one day soon Internal Audit teams will be well-resourced across charities and not-for-profits; and recognised as a valuable critical friend to aid trustees in furthering their charity’s mission and objectives. For now, I know that many third sector internal audit functions are chronically under-resourced and face challenges in finding the right skills and funding training – meaning CIAN’s contribution to the sector is desperately needed. For this reason, membership of CIAN remains free to not for profit organisations and gives access to this website, the resources within it, our quarterly network meetings and our annual benchmarking survey. We continue our commitment to providing affordable training courses for members and we are working on more ways to support the sector.
As well as the CIAN Committee members (especially our Communication Lead, Sherv Cheung – who has put many hours into the website), I would like to give a special thanks to our partners: Crowe UK, BDO, Grant Thornton, Haysmacintyre, Sayer Vincent and the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors for their continued support. It is thanks to them that we are able to continue to provide membership for free.
This website is a part of our enhancements for members and has been driven by members’ feedback. I hope you like the new website as much as we do and look forward to further feedback as we continuously develop the site. Please do let us know your thoughts – particularly any resources you are keen to see – and don’t forget that you can upload content in the members’ area of the site to share resources with other members of CIAN.
On behalf of myself and the rest of the CIAN Committee, I would like to thank all of our valued members, supportive partners, excellent training providers, former Committee members, presenters and advisors for supporting our first 25 years of success, and I look forward to the next 25!
Vanessa Clark, CIAN Chair
